New widgets out

We just released a small update of the the site. The main purpose of this release is to provide bloggers with nice looking widgets that they can embed on their blogs to help their fans to realize how easy it is to turn a blog into a podcast. We made them in three different flavors and three different colors. Get one for your blog right away!

Claim your spot on the Top 100

Heavily inspired by Twingly (who are serving all the blog data to us) we thought it would be fun to see how many Top 100 blogs we could get podcasted. Therefore we have compiled a list of these blogs at listentoblogs.com/top100. When you record an episode your name will end up next to the blog, with your avatar and all. So go ahead, record a famous blog and claim your place amongst the Top 100!

And by the way, we totally forgot to tell you last week. You can also embed your recorded podcasts on your own blog. Just click the SHARE button on the player, copy the embed code and paste it on your blog. Easy as 1-2-3!

TechCrunch is live

Ever since me, Eric & David came home from 24hbc our account over at Lighthouse has been filling up with tickets on things that needed to be addressed. We sorted most of them (48 issues) under the milestone TechCrunch aka. v1.0 which we deployed live just a few minutes ago. As well as scaling and stability under the hood we have made quite a few changes to the UI and also added some features. Here are some of the highlights:
  • Comments on podcasts (with notifications)
  • Share your podcasts to Twitter, Bloggy, del.icio.us & Facebook
  • Complete your profile with an avatar, description and more
  • Twingly widget integration
  • Player redesign and overall UI changes
  • Pagination of podcasts
We are very excited about these new features and changes so we hope you'll like it! And of course, if you want to listen to this post, go here or just click play on new widget below!

The sky is the limit

Today Google released a new version of Appengine (again) and this time they raised CPU and file limits with 300% and more. This is truly great news for programmers developing applications on the platform. This increases the space for more advanced computation which can create more value for our users. Thank you Google!

Me and David are still in deep code mode trying to complete the Techcrunch milestone. We will hopefully be ready to deploy sometime next week. Hang tight!

We can has comments!

We just deployed a new version of Listen To Blogs to the live server and we are closing in on our next major milestone also called Techcrunch after, yep, Mr. Arringtons startup gossip corner on the web.

We added a bunch of features today but the biggest one is commenting on posts so go ahead and give the podcasters the love they deserve. Also, check the newest blog just added, Moonhouse!

Next week we will close in on Twitter sharing and embed codes. Until then, listen carefully!
